Even today, the universe largely remains a mystery to us. Despite several scientific discoveries which explain some of these mysteries, many facts about the universe are still unknown. Human interest in the universe dates back to the ancient times when people gazed at the sky in wonder and puzzlement. With time this evolved into studies pertaining to astrophysics. The magnificence of the universe can be glimpsed at from the innumerable stars and planets the lie beyond the earth and solar system. It is of abiding interest and excitement that scientists do not rule out the possibility of existence of life on planets other than earth.
The Meghnad Saha Planetarium, established in 1994, is not only a pride Burdwan, but perhaps the only planetarium in India operating under the auspices of any university.
