  • Objectives
    		• : 
    The Academic Staff College, Burdwan University was established in the year 1989 to cater the vital need for improving the status of the teacher as well as to inculcate dynamism in higher education system by providing opportunities for professional and career advancement as proposed in the National Policy on Education, 1986 (NPE). The main objectives of the ASC are to enable the newly appointed teacher to understand the signaficance of education in linkage between education and economic and socio-cultural development and thirdly to acquire and improve basic skills of teaching keeping abrest with the development in subject.

     
  • Activities
    		• : 
    Generally, ASC is entrusted to conduct Orientation Programmes, Refresher Courses and courses or workshop for Principals, Coordinator, Deans, etc. Other than these programmes the ASC sometime conducts Seminars, Computer Awareness Programme for teachers etc. One of the most important activities of the ASC in the university is that it had already published the edited volumes of book which are very useful to the teachers attending the OPs and RCs including two volumes of News Letter ACADEMY.
